Behind the Seams | Making Jersey Behave
Carpet floor is ideal for laying down jersey fabric which needs smoothing out. Carpet grabs the jersey real well. Have also used it previously in the past to do cuttings and pinned into the carpet. Carpet often has a thin sponge layer underneath which is why it doesn't feel like you're walking on a hard concrete floor.
Another thing I have on my art desk (the second hand 1.8m one) is an old white cotton bed sheet from the op shop clipped onto the table so that it's practically flat on the table permanently. It's excellent for (a) cutting jersey (b) airbrushing because it soaks up excess paint (c) drawing marks all over it like my dimensions, or long straight lines to get your orientation for the cutting template matched up.
Basically jersey is a slippery animal when you don't have something underneath to grip it. It's nearly impossible to do the basic steps of cutting without stability.
