- A few days to make this... two hours just in the cutting and pinning the two layers together (double layered garment). Then you know, didn't dedicate full days to work on it.
- Balancing the rosebud stitch (comes in several names but I think rosebud is the easiest way to remember it. I think feather chain stitch is another name...) on the neckline so that the arm holes and neckline look like they are going in opposite directions, for both left and right arm holes.
- Polycotton corespun M25 thread aka button craft thread / horse rug thread does soften after a wash. Can be a bit itchy without being washed.
- Rosebud stitch is a stitch that needs a thread that has umph / body / cannot be crazy floppy.
- This colour brown looks olive under yellow (typical home warm electric bulb colour) light. Was also very drab looking, like an old man's tee. But converted to this top really refreshed the look and suitable to wear with many things, or by itself.
- Every rosebud stitch was done almost one by one. There isn't a lot of short cutting available on this stitch. Being double threaded, the thread goes out of whack (length of the two threads becomes uneven) frequently since you're moving in loops and what not. Almost all the time had to even up the loops by pulling each thread and shaping the petal / leaf. Pulling harder gives it a sharper look. Playing with the tension and shape, you can create rounder leaf shapes. It is very high thread consumption.
